How the use of “Freebies” can explode your website traffic and conversions.

Do you know what the most frequently searched word is on the internet today?

The all-important word is:

Knowing this and using it extensively can literally EXPLODE your sales. Let me explain.

Everyone loves a freebie, to get something for nothing. No one wants to pay for a product if they can get it for free.

Think about it.  All the times you searched for something on the internet. Whether it was for information, a service, a product, or just about anything, did you just type in the description, a keyword or phrase, or did you put ‘free’ before it?

I am quite sure that ‘free’ was somewhere in your search and results.

The benefit of giving something for free.

As an online business owner, offering valuable information for free can result in greatly increased sales.

First, it boosts your search engine rankings since the word ‘free’ is typed into a search more than any other word. Having it optimized on your website is crucial.

Once a customer has found you in their search results, further use of the word free on your website will draw them in even more, but don’t overdo it. Giving them something for nothing is a big attraction. Give them just enough so they will want to return for more.

How giving something for free can make you money.

When someone visits your site to claim their freebie, several things can happen.

To get their free product, they must give you their name and email address. This is the #1 reason for offering a freebie. To get them on your email list so you can build a relationship with them. Good communication is key and never forget that those who subscribed want to hear from you.

It is highly unlikely that someone will buy something on their first visit to a website and, unless there is an excellent reason for them to return, they may never visit again.

By having their email address, you can contact them and remind them to revisit your site. You can send your subscribers ‘special offers’ and offer them more products through emails.

On average, a customer will only buy something after they have seen it, or heard of it, 7 times.

People will, generally, only buy from you when they know, like and trust you. Giving away good value for free does so beautifully and, once you have them on your email list, you can build on the relationship and cultivate them as a valuable customer.

By having this important contact with your customers, your chances of them making a purchase will increase significantly.

The importance of quality freebies.

The item that you offer, no matter what it is, MUST be of good quality.

If a customer receives their freebie and the quality is poor, they will unsubscribe from your list and not come back to your website. You have disappointed them, and they consider you to be a scammer.

Even if you have the best website in your niche offering the best deals, they will never find out, because they just will not come back.

On the other hand, if they are impressed by the free gift, they are more likely to remain on your list because they are eager to know more and will visit your website again and again. High quality, useful free information and products are essential if you want the ‘freebie offer’ to work for you.

Also, be genuine in your interactions with potential customers. Don’t just give away a freebie to get sales. People are not stupid, and you will be found out and lose potential sales.

Rather be genuine in your efforts to offer free information and advice. This will build trust quickly and your customers will be excited about hearing from you.

How you can drive traffic to your website using ‘freebies’.

Classified ads are a fantastic way to drive traffic to your website. The headline and description should be centred around the infamous “what’s in it for me”. That is offering them a freebie. This will entice them to click the link and visit your website.

You can post classifieds for free. Just search for ‘free classified ads’ and choose from the 1000’s of websites that the search engines provide. Submit your ads often and the traffic will keep coming.

Other ways to drive traffic using ‘freebies’.

Simply use it anywhere your ads appear.

If you publish articles, reports or eBooks, put your offer in your resource box.

If you use pay-per-click (PPC) advertising then use the offer as your ad copy.

Advertising in ezines, whether it’s your own, an affiliate’s or paid advertising, again use the free offer in your resource box.

Choose carefully.

When deciding on what it is that you will give way, there is one piece of advice that is vital.

Make the free item appropriate to you audience. Whatever niche you operate in, stick with the theme.

If you offer an eBook on ‘how to knit fancy tea cosies’ and your business sells musical instruments, you will be heading for a disaster. This seems a ridiculous example and rather obvious, but you will be surprised how easy it is to get off topic with your customers. Always remember what they subscribed for and offer more of that to them exclusively.

The customer will visit your website to get their eBook. They will download it and probably be very pleased if it contained high quality information on ‘how to knit fancy tea cosies’. When you then contact them via email with, for example, a ‘special offer on violin strings’, they will most likely not visit your website again.

No matter how many emails you send them, their interest was tea cosies, not musical instruments. Why should they visit your site again? The fact is they won’t.

So be mindful of what your own niche actually wants and give it to them.

In conclusion, the more you offer freebies, the more money you will make.

It is one of the best traffic drivers and is a straightforward concept.

Now that you have this little golden nugget of valuable information, get to work. Plan what you could offer, to whom, when and where.

    1. Thank you, I am glad you like my blog.

The theme is a free WP theme called Astra. I appreciate the simplicity of it. I find that too many blogs have too much going on so I wanted to keep it simple.
